Striking The Right Chord

Of late,I've been captivated by the concepts behind the commercials on air. Moreover to tell you the truth,I sit in front of the Idiot box just to watch these new commercials cropping up each day ,getting even better and better as each day progresses with their creative thinking. I may sound crazy but i find these commercials more worthwhile to watch,compared to that of the run of the mill programs.

When we analyse in depth, we can understand that the evolution of these had'n been easy and it took over a period of time to evolve.Looking back,a few years down the lane,we could see only the Shahenshah's and czars of a few fields like Bollywood,Cricket in those big budget ads with the Advertisement Agencies and companies running behind them and paying them like hell. but it Did work for a few years. But looking at it now we can find,its not the case today. The most effective and successful commercials don't depend on them anymore. The Industry has proved that it is no more under their mercy.

Lets analyse quite a few of the most Successful Ad's and the only common aspect between them is that, Yeah, you Guessed them right... It does not have Starpower embossed over them.

There were days when Air-tel was running behind Sachin. It was quite helpful for positioning their brand in the competitive environment. But what inspires me About Sunil Bharthi Mittal's Conglomerate is its ability to understand and predict the future.There was a buzz in the media when Air-tel failed to renew his contract. Many even gimmicked that Bharthi had made a wrong decision, while Reliance grasped this opportunity to bring him under their Arm with a misconception that it would create a command over the others in the telecom domain. But it played the Spoilsport.
Look at this Ad.You'll understand that it struck the right Chord.



Banking commercials would normally associate themselves with bringing to light the Services like internet Banking,Loans etc etc. There has always been a misconception that banking needs to be associated only with money,profits etc. But they have terribly failed to realise the emotional bond which needs to be created among its customers. I still remember my Grandfather insisting upon his family members to trust their money with the bank he has been associated for decades. Though that particular Bank had been a learner from others in these cutting edge technologies and other facilities. So This one would be one which demonstrates it.



The ones below are some of the other ad's which are so cute and innovative but yeah,they are quite unnatural or a bit imaginary.But they hit bang on target, serving the purpose of the commercial. My words would be minimal to Describe it.....

Linda Fever......

That was the time the Linda fever was at its peak. Atleast in my household. Though I Don't believe much in astrology,she made me believe it at least to an extent. For,I loved to read word by word about her descriptions about every sun sign and i was completely astounded for,many proved quite true. I devoured the entire thing in a matter of days. That book was the topic of conversation for us guys in college for nearly 2 months. would you believe.....!

This Day would have been just another day in my life had it been the year before. But it was special this year or maybe??? The day i'll look upon throughout my entire life. For, this day made a big difference and would make a big difference in my life. No Doubts bout it. For this marked a new Beginning,a new journey.... For this day i was returning from Pattukottai,having accomplished the reason for which i went there.

My Experiments with "Pambaram" - II

So, while the last post was the prologue to this one ,let me continue with my experiments.... :)

It went like this for two whole days....A bit comical Thou..but it meant serious business for two whole days. Tried my best and applied every bit of my effort..... All to make a Top Spin...
"Mastering the Art of Pambaram Vitting"

I even had a thought of calling up Vijayakanth for tips...But poor guy,he was in a political turmoil then. So yeah,well equipped with a string and the top i started to a vacant place in front of house where i could stealthily undergo the training.
Took tips from everyone and started to apply everything.But net result 0....

Hence i finally decided to resolve the issue applying my Engineering Skills. So sitting down,analysing the planetary data,Gravitational Pull and the earths motion into account ,considering the feedback,changing the angle of inclination etc etc....i started to analyse ,in what all ways i can "Master the Art of Pambaram Vitting"

hmmm....Not to forget how embarrassed i was when kids stared occasionally with a kind of mocking look...hmmm..."avanga Manasula enna Odithho" seeing a grown up guy like me..sitting with a top and the string.....

So here goes my application of physics....

While i was thinking so much but could'n finally make a top spin, even after working hard for two days,a girl(must be less than 8yrs) came over there,stared at me with a subtle smile,took a top from her pocket,spun it just like that,then took into her palm while it was still in motion with help of the string.Then oru nakkalaana look..Thats it...Then i decided...

" Ivalo Nadantha Apparamum unakku ithu venamannu "...... hmmm....

In mounam Paesiyathaey style... "Avala Vantha,Avala Nakkala Oru Look Vitta,Avala Pambaram Vitta,Avala kaila Edutha,Avala Siricha....hmmm"

Quite a Catchy title...."My Experiments with Pambaram" lol.....hmm....wad to do..Thought of writing "My Experiments with truth"...But enakku munnadi Enga Thaatha Munthikittar....

For Those who donno wad a pambaram is...I give u Few options...

Option 1: Its the Tamil Vernacular Name For "Top ".
Option 2: Ask Our Dear Captain Mr.Vijayakanth
Option 3: Google Around

And if anyone feels that it is unnecesary or unworthy to know about it....Sorry...You got it wrong...
Coz... even silly things have great potential and can bring a big turnaround..Eg.... Price of onions brought down a Government in Delhi ...
So wads bout this Pambaram....It created waves in Tamil Cinema and it made Mr.Vijaykanth's popularity ratings Reach Sky high..
"The Pambaram Mania " caught up with the youth and it can be attributed to Vijayakanths Block Buster movie "Chinna Gounder".
